Professor and Program Director of Data Science

Chong Ho "Alex" Yu is a recognized leader in the field of data science and machine learning. He is the Vice President for Statistics Education and the President-elect of the Southern California Chapter of the American Statistical Association (SCASA).

A three-time winner of the SAS faculty scholarship, Yu won the Distinguished SAS Educator Award in 2021. He holds a Ph.D. in measurement, statistics, and methodological studies, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Arizona State University. Yu also has master's degrees in educational psychology, human relations, and theology.
